Christmas Magic
Christmas sessions where a hit! Mixed with a little chaos. Naturally!
It was that time of year again! Christmas time! And let me tell you.....Christmas time is the most magical time to take family photos!
I had so much success with my fall mini session, and requests for Christmas minis, so I thought "What the heck, Ill do it!" I saw so many posts asking about Christmas Tree Farm minis that I went for it. Reached out to a tree farm, booked my day, started filling up for that day....and quickly.....
This is where problem number one took place, rain. all. day. the weather man says....NOOOOOO!!!! Every photographers worst fear, clients start panicking, I start panicking, how the heck am I going to pull this off?
Well the day of the sessions arrived.. rain, rain and more rain! Client number one showed up, knowing they where leaving for the holidays and this would be their only chance. So rain and all, a little umbrella and some wonderful people we made magic happen! These guys are my heros! No one complained, the boys played in the rain with me, and their puppers was absolutely loving the freedom and the rain!

So with a little creativity, and some pretty wet rain, we pretended it was snow! Because here in Virginia Beach we don't get to much snow! So lets pretend, after all, Christmas time is all about the magic! And that is exactly what this family offered me! Magic. If there is anything that I learned from them, its that anything is possible if you make it happen! Make the best out of even the worst of situations.
Me feeling bad, I reached out to others, offering them re shoots the following weekend (some took this option) others where unable to do so. So I had an idea, "Do you have your Christmas Tree up?" ...."Yes you say?" ....."Perfect ill be there shortly!"
This is how I met this amazing family! And not being rushed for time anymore, we where able to take our time, relax and enjoy the magic! There where a few young tears in the beginning, but soon enough it was all smiles, laughs, jokes, and talk about Santa.

By this point I was so happy the weather man was right! Other wise this shot would of never happened.
After an in home session success, I was pumped to do another! Mommy's best Christmas and little mans First Christmas! I was so excited for this session because I had taken pictures of this handsome little man a few months back, and watching the little's grow is such a rewarding experience!

Mean while I was trying the plan the last of my wedding...Let me tell you about stressful. I am going to be 100% honest, I did'nt want to be working the week of my wedding, and I will always put my clients first, so I knew that I was starting to fall behind on my own life. But heck, that is life right?
There is was, the last day of tree farm minis, YAY!!!! And the weather was beautiful! Double YAY! And I also had the joy of bringing My midget with me :)
Have I told you how much I love my job? What other job allows you to bring your children to work when you want too? My clients where also so awesome and cool with the fact that he was my assistant for the day. I mean lots of sugar helped bribe him some ha ha (Sorry side story note over)
This amazing family only has a short time together before its time for Daddy to deploy, so it warmed my heart being able to capture this moment for them! What an adorable little family!!

Now this last family touched my sole on a totally different level! Mom was a little flustered because she was running late, little miss didn't want to get ready and head off to the farm, the ground was wet and we wanted pictures of Grams in her wheelchair. "Take a breath, we will make this work, I promise!"
I will not make promises that I can't keep, so I had no choice but to make it work! And I am so glad I did. The whole session was filled with dance parties, peek a boos and so many hugs and laughs.
After the session was over and I sent them the finished images I was told a very sad story of the horrible year this family had. The smiles she saw in the pictures showed her just how strong their family was, and their laughter was so long over due! And I got to deliver this to them! This story was the best Christmas present I could of ever asked for.
THIS ladies and gentlemen is WHY I do what I do! My clients become my friends, and the reactions I get from happy friends is heart warming! I do not look at photography as my job, but my life! I get to offer people something that is hard to come by. And I get to freeze time, a time of togetherness, happiness, love and laughter!

So from me to all of you! Thank you for filling my heart with so much love this Christmas! I wish EVERYONE of you a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year!
